Dead Star Shine

GIVE ME A SIGN-BREAKING BENJAMIN

"Daylight dies
Blackout the sky
Does anyone care?
Is anybody there?"

I'M ALL OUT OF BREATH, MY WALLS ARE CLOSING IN

Do you ever get so upset that you begin to hyperventilate and dry heave? I fucking hate it. It's like I already look and feel gross enough already, I'd rather not add choking and blowing chunks to the list of things shitty in that moment. You literally feel like the walls are closing in like that scene from Star Wars.  I hate tight spaces. Yuck.

GIVE ME A SIGN

We're all looking for a sign or some sort of reason as to why we're here and where we should go next. Sometimes there are signs, but we're so wrapped up in what we're doing to notice what's right in front of our faces.

I CAN FEEL YOU FALLING AWAY AND I CAN SEE YOU STARTING TO BREAK

It's literally the worst feeling in the world to feel someone's feeling slipping away and not being able to do a god damn thing about it. No matter how much love you show and how much you fix all of your "problems" that they've nagged you about, the inevitable still takes its course...which leads to the blowing chunks and hyperventilating previously discussed.

I'LL RISE TO FALL AGAIN

If every relationship is the same (great honeymoon phase, and then shit. Lots and lots of shit.), why do we continue putting ourselves through it? We keep lying to ourselves, saying it's going to be better the next time around. It's bullshit. I wish people would be fucking honest for once in their lives. Although I sound angry, this song is really heartfelt and usually makes me cry. The video is fucking sick, too: "The song's hospital-set music video was directed by Nigel Dick and features artwork from Breaking Benjamin's four albums. A picture of the cover art from Saturate is hanging up in the child's room, the old man has the Breaking Benjamin tattoo on his finger from the cover of We Are Not Alone, a visitor whose face can't be seen is the cover from Phobia and the woman's room features the MRI scan of singer Ben Burnley's head from the cover of Dear Agony. Prior to the video's debut, Burnley had commented that he hoped fans would "recognize and be excited by the inclusion of certain key characters from the band's past". The woman in the hospital bed is Jane from the clip for 'The Diary of Jane' and the faceless visitor is the 'Evil Angel' from the song of the same name." Also, the music video "premiered on their Myspace page on March 10, which happened to be Benjamin Burnley's 32nd birthday. It is the last Breaking Benjamin video to feature Aaron Fink, Mark Klepaski, and Chad Szeliga" On top of all of that...it's Breaking Benjamin. And they're fucking amazing. Need I say more?
